The European Cycle Messenger Championships (ECMC) is an annual competition for European bicycle messengers. The first ECMC was held in Hamburg in 1996. This was originally planned as the 2nd German Cycle Messenger Championships (GCMC/DMFK), but was turned into a European championship due to large participation of Dutch and Danish messengers.

Dear Messengerdom
A few words about the corona safety measures that we will take to ensure a safe and enjoyable (and might it be said) old skool championship. For the amount of more than 300 registered participants so far, our event needs to have a covid certificate. This comes with a few inconveniences and quite a lot of eventual freedom.
We are obliged to have a covid certificate (QR Code) for each participant before joining the event and we have a few solutions that we can offer to obtain it:
You can simply roll up with one, this lets you register right away and join the fun immediately.
If you don’t have one, there will be free testing facilitys. We will let you know the exact offered testing times und places.
In case you miss that particular window, we are working in collaboration with a labatory where you can have yourself tested free of charge as participant of the ECMC.
The covid certificate is valid for 48 hours, so if you’re spending the full four days with us, this procedure has to be done twice.
We will have an info-point open at designated meeting points during the whole event to help with the procedure.
Now here comes the old skool part: with these precautions we can finally succumb to the warm embrace that is the international messenger community!

The ensued honing and perfecting of the proceedings will offer the racers a full body massage of a cargo race and the spectating collagues a pilgrimage through the holiest of bike messenger shirnes.

We are sad to tell you that the ECMC 2020 in Basel will be postponed to the following year to summer 2021. With the current restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic we feel it is safest to stay home this year and meet in 2021 instead. This decision was made together with the organizers of ECMC in Hamburg, which will be postponed to summer 2022 accordingly. Please bear with us while we are organizing new dates and stay tuned for more information on ECMC 2021 in Basel!
